Call 999 in an emergency - Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency!
All West Lancashire patients are now requested to ring 111 (a free to call number) when you require medical assistance out of hours when the surgery is closed.
NHS 111 will triage your call and, if they feel it necessary, they will despatch your call to West Lancashire Out of Hours Service for a duty doctor to ring you back.
NHS 111 are able to give advice directly for certain conditions and are also able to ring 999 for an ambulance if they feel that your call is an emergency.

West Lancashire now has an Extended Access service running 7 days a week from 18:30 -20:00 Monday –Friday, 10:00 – 14:00 on Saturdays and 10:00 – 13:00 on Sundays. You can book one of these appointments by contacting reception. We have the availability to book appointments with a GP, ANP, PN, HCA and a Phlebotomist.
The service runs from various locations on weeknights and from three hubs in West Lancashire on the weekend:
Burscough Health Centre
Ormskirk Medical Practice
Sandy Lane Health Centre
The service offers pre-bookable and same -day primary care appointments with a range of clinicians including GPs, Nurses and Health Care Assistants. Appointments are available to all patients that are registered in West Lancs and can be booked by contacting reception.
Please be aware that this is not a walk in service - you must have an appointment.
